Cure Your High Blood Pressure with a Chiropractor

blood-pressure-pictureWith death tolls as high as over 50,000 each year, and with millions suffering from the disease, high blood pressure is one of the major medical killers of the modern era. In the united states alone, 70 to 80 million people from all ages and social groups are afflicted with high blood pressure. If you are one of these people, chances are that the treatment you have is made up of at least two drugs designed to lower your pressure at around 15-20 points. An average of 17 points can be removed from your blood pressure through treatment with a chiropractor.

Surprising studies

Even the researchers who conducted the study were surprised to discover the effects of chiropractics in people with high blood pressure. In the study, 50 people were divided into the placebo group and the actual treatment group. Those who were treated all showed a massive 17 average drop in their high blood pressure. Those in the placebo group, on the other had developed full blown hypertension. The technique used in these studies is called Upper Cervical Chiropractics, and is the careful realignment of the Atlas vertebra which is found at the top of the spine, holding up the skull.

Atlas vertebra

The Atlas vertebra is linked to high blood pressure because it is positioned right next to organs that control much of the muscles in the body. Because of this, blood flow and over-all muscle conditions can be modulated by restoring the Atlas vertebra to its proper position. This vertebra is also often dislocated by just a few millimeters during childhood, and can pass on unnoticed for years.

Work in progress

At present, further studies are being conducted to test for the particular groups who can benefit from upper cervical chiropractics. Large scale clinical trials are underway, but the results are already being published in major medical journals. The study has a significant impact on people with hypertension because the combined effects of the chiropractic sessions can actually remove the need for two pills taken each day just to minimize blood pressure.

NUCCA approval

If you are suffering from high blood pressure, one of the treatment options that you may want to undertake is chiropractics. Be sure, however, that your chiropractor is certified by the National Upper Cervical Chiropractics Association, which at present only has about 200 certified practitioners. This type of chiropractics is very sensitive and requires practitioners with years of experience and training, especially because the focus is on some of the most sensitive bones of the body. In fact, realigning the Atlas vertebra is done in degrees measured only by millimeters. If done properly on the right type of high blood pressure patients, on the other hand, the results are dramatic.

Health reminders

Be sure to consult licensed professionals to help you in treating high blood pressure through chiropractics. Also, consult with your physician before undertaking treatment, and maintain your drug treatments throughout the course of the procedure to minimize potential complications.  With these in mind, finding a healthy alternative to your hypertension pills is possible.
